Five for Friday - 26/03/2010
Right, I’ve never done one of these before but the lovely totallyamazing suggested I give it a try. Here are five songs I really like and want to share with you; some will be recent, some will be a bit older, but the main thing is that I love them and think you need them in your life.
Pet Shop Boys - Flamboyant
I always forget the genius of this until it comes up on shuffle or one of my...
Hello!
Once again my tumbling(?) has fallen by the wayside. I think I have a bit of a block - what should I post about? Please feel free to comment with your suggestions!
On the subject of Lulu...
Let’s remind ourselves that Shout was covered by none other than Shabnam from Big Brother 8 - remember her? She’s the one who asked Big Brother “if I leave early will I still get mag deals?” - what a desperado! Here’s an incredible video of her performing ‘live’ at some event:
I wonder what she’s up to now?
Saw this in Waterstones today
Lulu’s Secrets To Looking Good -
Who the fuck is she kidding? Her secret is clearly PHOTOSHOP.
Sorry but Lulu does my head in - from her ever-changing accent and terrible botox/surgery/whatever is it face, to her dismal attempts at getting on TV and in the papers (remember when she hosted the Lottery show years ago? She was notably shit on a show that’s always rubbish anyway, which...
Hello!
I’ve not updated this in ages, I’m sorry. Just a quick post to say that I AM STILL ALIVE and will be posting regularly again soon!
Also amazing
Castlevania - Circle of the Moon.
This was the first Castlevania game on the Gameboy Advance, and since it was followed by two far nicer-looking games (graphically) it’s not really that fondly remembered despite the fact it’s VERY VERY GOOD INDEED. I should probably mention that I’m a total Castlevania addict, it’s one of my favourite game series ever. My favourites are...
You know what was an amazing game?
Final Fantasy V!
Really, really underrated, but for me it’s probably the most fun of the lot! I actually like that it doesn’t have as much of a story as the others, somehow it feels really fitting and works well. The Job system is the best thing ever though, I loved how versatile it made things - you could make the characters do anything.
I think it’s overdue for another...

A question
Tomorrow’s my brother’s birthday, should I get him anything? Now before you think I’m just being mean, let me explain. My brother has spent the last few years going on about how birthdays are a load of crap and we shouldn’t be taken in by them, it’s just a moneygrabbing exercise, etc etc etc. He has a particular issue with cards. Accordingly, he doesn’t give...
Just heard the instrumental of this on some TV show, and it reminded me what an incredible song it is. Björk is SO good, can’t believe I didn’t post about her during my first-day ‘favourites’-fest! She’s one of the most brilliant artists in the world.
Pointless post
Hello! I thought I’d just do a general sort of update thing because I’m bored at the moment.
I’ve had a very good day, on the whole. Was only in uni for 45 minutes for a progress meeting (part of the group project I’m doing with three other students this semester), and it was pretty much good news all round. Things seem to be in track, and we haven’t wanted to tear...
What The Face →
I’m obsessed with spotting faces on things when I’m out and about, so this is one of my favourite websites. Some of them are hilarious!
I'm in a silly mood
I must be, because a second ago I just had this exchange with my brother…
*He comes into my room*
Him: “It’s cold in here, anyway I-“
Me: “There’s no kind of atmosphere, I’m all alone, More or less. Let me fly, Far away from here, Fun, fun, fun, In the sun, sun, sun”
Me = laaaaaaame
AMAZING
Kimberley has to be my favourite Girls Aloud member (favourite Girl Aloud? Is that the right terminology?) - credit goes to Feltano from PJ
Laugh of the day
It’s really a shame we can’t ‘reblog’ message board posts, because this (by Bloodskur on the Popjustice forum) had me in actual hysterics:
Amazing.
CDs!
I bought two albums today. I don’t buy that many physical albums nowadays, I was in a download phase for a few years but I’ve realised I actually like having physical versions of the albums I own so I’ll be buying more this year. When I do I’ll do some mini-reviews on here, I guess!
Marina and the Diamonds - The Family Jewels
So, Marina … I’ve already talked...
New Doctor Who trailer
Here’s the new trailer for the next series of Doctor Who, as just shown on BBC1 ten minutes ago:
I think it’s quite nice, very different from previous trailers. It’s nice to finally hear Amy speak, and it’s confirmation she’ll be using a Scottish accent (yay!). Still absolutely loving everything I’ve seen of Matt Smith as the Doctor, he just gets it...
This is brilliant
So apparently on Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball tour she has a literal ‘Fame Monster’ that flaps about on stage -
Absolutely incredible.
Post re: AMAZING night
So I went to see Marina and the Diamonds last night, and it was bloody fantastic. I’ve been a fan of her for a while, and saw her in Glasgow last April when she played a short set in a pretty tiny venue. This time she was at the Oran Mor which is quite a bit bigger, and the audience was at least three or four times the size as it was last year (which is amazing of course, it shows...
Just thought I’d do a quick post for the sake of doing one today, even though the day’s nearly over! Had a very productive day at uni, and that’s about it really - seeing Marina tomorrow night, so expect some sort of review and pics at some point. Night all!
A bit about my life
I’m still not entirely sure about talking about myself online, which has led to problems when I’ve attempted blogging and stuff in the past - I think I find it hard to judge the right amount of stuff I should share, which leads to nothing I write having a personal touch (or any kind of voice at all) and me getting so frustrated I stop bothering with the entire thing. This time will be...
The Brit Awards
So the Brit Awards were last night, and for the most part it was the same old stuff. The best parts, for me -
Lady Gaga, in general. Her performance was off the wall, yes, but there was clearly a lot of genuine feeling behind it and I found it oddly emotional. She also proved yet again what an absolute sweetheart she was when she won (all three times!) - she really does come across as a very...
Help, I look like Leona Lewis!
This is one of the most hilarious news (“news”) stories of 2010 so far. I can’t believe the journalist isn’t being sarcastic! Absolutely incredible.
Bonus:
(I’m aware this is a bit old now, but I didn’t have Tumblr when it first came out so pfft!)
Kate Bush
Literally amazing.
Being Human →
Literally the best thing on TV at the moment.
My favourite things
I guess a nice idea for my first day on Tumblr would be if I post a few of my favourite things - music, shows, games, whatever. Some will be current favourites, while others might be all-time favourites. Let’s see how it goes!
Hello!
I’m new to Tumblr, not completely sure why I’m making this but time will tell if I use it.
A bit about myself probably wouldn’t go amiss for a first post, would it? I’m Chris, 25 from the wonderful city of Glasgow where I’m currently a third year student. I’m engaged to an amazing man who I should be moving in with in a couple of months (barring natural...
